Arbitrations and Grievances
APSA has filed a grievance based on article 9.2 of our Basic Agreement. This is to dispute the University's inconsistent distribution of the professional development fund reimbursement payout for temporary members from our last round of bargaining. We hope to resolve this matter as soon as possible.
APSA advocates have several ongoing grievances and investigations on accommodations, return to work and hours of work. We can't give any details due to confidentiality issues. Please see this infographic on the Life of a Grievance to learn more about how the grievance process works.
Hybrid Work Arrangements
APSA recently met with SFU to discuss hybrid work arrangements. SFU discussed the pilot program, how it's been received and its further rollout. APSA encouraged SFU to promote the University as a hybrid workplace to help with recruitment and retention and to help with acceptance of hybrid positions across its campuses.
Human Rights Office
During a meeting with the Employee Council, SFU informed APSA that the Human Rights Office will be moving under the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion portfolio in Human Resources.
Bullying and Harassment
APSA and the other employee groups have arranged a second meeting with SFU to discuss the deficiencies of the current Bullying and Harassment Policy (GP 47). This follows our joint letter to the University outlining our serious concerns with the policy, its procedures and the execution of these procedures for our members.
APSA's Salary and Benefits Committee is meeting regularly and working on the salary and benefits survey, which we hope to distribute to members later this year. We'll have further updates as the fall semester continues.
