We’ve got you covered on what happened at the meeting.
- APSA spoke about the challenges of the past year and our relationship with the University.
Chairperson and president Mike Peragine spoke about the ongoing position eliminations of APSA members, as well as increases in Bullying and Harassment cases, and the current challenges in the post-secondary environment. He also highlighted the wins the APSA currently has, including policy updates from the Joint University Affairs committee, the Spring coffee conversations, APSA's Winter Social on January 15, Fall Social on October 22, and several professional development workshops, both online and in-person. Read his full report here.
- Our finances are stable, with a balanced financial review and budget.
Jasper Stoodley, APSA treasurer, spoke about APSA’s expenses and budget. He discussed the board resolution to complete an audit in 2026.
Salary line items also increased. The treasurer noted that APSA staff are compensated in line with SFU APSA employees, so when retro-pay is received, and the salary is increased, the same applies to APSA staff.
APSA's revenue comes from two sources: membership dues and investment interest. Interests improved due to higher interest rates, and APSA dues remained flat, despite several position eliminations, most likely due to hiring at the medical school.
Below are the finances: - The Advocacy Committee.
Andrew Boden spoke on behalf of the Advocacy Committee. Read the full Advocacy report here.
- We took questions from the members on Advocacy matters.
- We welcomed your new board of directors.
We welcomed Ian Hayashi, Christopher Piché, Alana McGillivray, Erik Tryggvason and Raymond Yim to the board. They’ll work on your behalf to find solutions to your concerns and represent your interests. You can find them on the Board of Directors page.
- We thanked our former, current, and staff.
Jasper Stoodley, Patrick McClarty, Kim O'Donnell, Nicole Manson, Cindy Woo, Ben Boyle and Tess Williams stepped down from the board this year. We thank them for their tireless service to APSA as board members.
